Indigo Civil Enforcement Officer Praised by Mayor


A Salford traffic warden who fought to save aman’s life has been praised for her actions by the city’s Ceremonial Mayor.

Christine Allcock, 59, who works for Indigo, partof the world’s largest car parking operator with a portfolio of 145,000 on andoff-street parking spaces in the UK, was awarded a certificate from the RoyalHumane Society for her quick response last summer in an attempt to save a man’slife.

Salford City Council commissions Indigo topatrol Salford. Ceremonial Mayor Councillor Peter Dobbs added his thanks andpraise, saying:

“Christine came across a gentleman who hadcollapsed and went to see if she could help, but she noticed he was blue andshowing no signs of life, so she gave him CPR. The man began to breathe againand was taken to hospital. Sadly, he eventually passed away.”

“It takes a great deal of courage to stay calmin a situation like that but Christine’s training stood her in good stead andshe worked hard to give the gentleman a fighting chance of survival. Sadly thatwas not to be but I wanted to say thanks to her personally on behalf of ourcity for showing the true Spirit of Salford at such a difficult time.”

A spokesperson for Indigo said: “We areextremely proud of the way Christine conducted herself on that day, ourthoughts were with the gentleman’s family.”

Added, “It takes an incident like this tohighlight the importance of rigorous employee training. We provide employeeswith the opportunity to undergo such training which prepares them for handling challengingsituations. Indigo prides itself for providing its workforce with Learning andDevelopment Programmes, for example Public Space Surveillance and SecurityGuarding courses to help incidents, such as onsite crime. Our business is committedto work hard in order to provide a professional service to the council to the public,at all times.”
