Vinci Park UK celebrates staff who walk the extra mile
Vinci Park UK is congratulating the winners of its inaugural Healthy Walking competition; awarding first place in the on-street category to the team at Slough Borough Council, and Cheltenham and Gloucester in the off-street category.
Recognising the huge distances staff cover on a daily basis, Vinci Park UK launched the competition to identify the those who have walked the extra mile to help customers, and keep sites safe and secure. Pedometers were given to staff to measure just how far they travelled on foot over a the course of an average week.
Phillip Herring,Commercial Director at Vinci Park UK, said: “This year we’ve all been inspired by the world’s finest athletes, and we wanted to reward our teams who often walk over 100 miles a week.
“We all know the importance of regular exercise, and we were keen to encourage an even healthier working environment by adding a little bit of competitiveness to the mix.Congratulations in particular to the Slough Borough Council and Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospital teams, they’ve clearly earned a good sit down.”
The team at Slough Borough Council clocked up an incredible 226,211 steps (equal to 113 miles) on the city’s streets over a five day period, leading the on-street contracts. While the off-street team working at Cheltenham and Gloucester hospitals racked up an impressive201,314 steps (equal to 100 miles), the equivalent of them walking to London. Both teams were declared the proud winners of the competition and have received(much needed) foot massagers and fruit hampers to help continue their healthy efforts.
